Mobile 'Schools to Tools' Comes to Standish-Sterling

Our 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to explore future career possibilities through Schools to Tools, a mobile career exploration program operated by the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights. Students participated in hands-on activities and experienced virtual reality job site tours to learn more about careers in the skilled construction trades. The program introduced students to opportunities in fields such as carpentry and millwrighting, highlighting well-paying, unionized careers that offer an alternative to a traditional four-year college path. This experience helped students discover new possibilities for their futures and learn about the many pathways available after high school.

SSC Students Travel to SVSU for MiCareerQuest

On October 9th, our 10th grade students recently traveled to Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) to attend MiCareerQuest, an interactive career exploration event highlighting high-demand industries in our region. Students had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of careers across five different career clusters through hands-on activities and interactive experiences with local employers. The event gave students a firsthand look at the skills and opportunities associated with different career paths. This experience helped broaden students’ awareness of future career possibilities as they begin thinking about life after high school.

College Fair Held in SSC's Fieldhouse

The SSC Fieldhouse was buzzing with opportunity on October 5, 2026, as we hosted our college fair. A total of 27 college, university, and other representatives were on hand to share information about their programs and opportunities with students. We were also pleased to welcome students from three neighboring school districts to the event. The college fair provided a valuable opportunity for students to explore their postsecondary options and take the next step toward planning for their futures.

Michigan Chillers Author Johnathan Rand Entertains Students

SSC's music teacher, Ms. Freeman, in partnership with community partners and BAISD hosted Johnathan Rand, author of the Michigan Chillers series!  It was a night of student performances, literacy education and free books!  Children and families were treated to pizza and a night of laughs while learning about the importance of making reading a part of your regular routine.
